Sylvia and Patrick's big day - WEDDING

the7asmann - Thank you for your browsing on this wedding pictures. I'm just taking this as a wedding diary for my sister's friend's wedding. Yes, all the pictures taken using digital SLR, Nikon D70s. The black and white is just the coversion (grayscale) in Adobe Photoshop. The topshot of the MPV that you like was taken on the verandah of the house, so I put the caption, "Under My Feet". Very glad you like it Thank you. Wed 14-Sep-2005 10:13

photos in the room should be brighter, try faster lens, like f2.8, f1.4 or f1.8, otherwise use bounce flash.. some of your work looks snappy, so some anticipation needed for real capture of emotions.. Sun 25-Dec-2005 14:53

hi diana, your photos for scenery are nice, and your wedding work, u need bounce flash, cut to -2/3 so you will get a natural fill. try close up and get more BW to emphasize on the emotions...

my humble opinion..

Dear "photographer@"

Thanks for your comments and teaching on this photopage. I realized the low light indoor. I must say I prefer outdoor or slight shade during good time for photography purpose. However, I must say I've always like to underexpose most of my photographs with either 1 or 2 stops under. Not sure why but I feel it's more "temperament". It's just my preferences and I understand there's no wrong or right to do so if the subjects are suitable.

Thanks for telling me for the usage of bounce light. Yeah, I reckon bounce light be solving the problem of being too contrast. It does the job to neutralize the "unlit". I must say I've always avoiding taking pictures in bad lit room. And I hardly use flash.

I use only Nikon FM2 and only once that I've used a small light for event in a hall (night). That was all I did. I'm not literate to examine the power of my flash and I don't feel comfortable to utilize it. I must say I've failed to learn it in proper.

As far as I know, using bounce light isn't easy as well. I wonder how many amateur photographer able to use them correctly. This is because I've came across seeing some using bounce light wrongly(angle) causing pictures with notable flash light souce.

Now, I've started to use the digi-SLR, yet so poor in the usage still. The wedding pictures was taken with the "P" mode nearly all time. I understand it was bad for most the pictures. Worst, the wedding reception taken place at night. I took those pictures for trial purpose with the still new camera. I hardly practise. The wedding couple had their own photographer and so my pictures are optional.

I agree fully on your suggetions on black and white film for on emphasizing emotion and expression. The pictures that you saw in the page are those taken with dig-SLR (colored) but converted to grayscale. I was only using the standard lens and auto flash unit available on my camera. And yes, I loose out much on catching nice moment of expression The subject didn't stand-out after all for it compensation of big apperture (night).

Thank you so much for your opinion, sincerely appreciate it. I hope I woud try on the fill light someday. Warmest regards.

Thanking each and every one for the kind comments. As we all may know no rights and wrongs in art.Beauty is at the eye of beholder. It is interesting that we can see and identity uniqueness in each other's pictures for good sharings.

Picture one is the widest I could go while tilting and mounted my eye on the viewfinder . Last picture, shall be same width I could go with my standard 18-70mm lens.

Unfortunately, am not so used to this digi-SLR yet as lacking of practising. Not as confident as using my Nikon FM2

Thank you.

A visit to an orchid garden one pleasant evening.

Shaliza, thank you so much for you viewing.Sincerely appreciate it. I like the same picture that you prefered as well. The mist....I must say I didn't photograph many other subjects there. Attacked by mosquitor....I'm most fearful to mosquitor....ouch ouch! Thu 4-Aug-2005 14:11

I've been to the same garden and did not get anything half as decent as these. While I am more inclined to favour no.4, no.12 is indeed beautifully captured . Sat 3-Sep-2005 17:39

Passed by British Museum nearly everyday taking the no. 19 bus. Always fascinating by the theory of symetrical in the museum. It's so white. Watching the early sunlights fall onto surface of each space and corners...wonderful sight.

I'm sorry, I meant, undeniably the photos.
See, this is what happens when my head is on the photos too much!

Thanks for the info.

A short stay of nearly 4 months at central London. I lived in Somerset Estate nearby the water. It was wonderful to walk pass by the Battersea bridge everyday without fail. The surroundings were pleasant and wonderful. I could not get my mind out remembering the autumn leaves fall on my face under big trees in the garden.

Thank you for the comment...I hardly remember my shutter speed when I took that pic...but took few nearly same pic of the same spot trying to see the changes of the light during the magic hour.

However, I knew that am using small aperture... It's quite dark already at that time so I should be using less than 1/30. I followed the metering on the camera, but usually underexpose half stop.

Camera Nikon FM2 without any flash... using Kodak EBX
